Falling with Elvis, Climbing with Friends
It is a warm cabin, simply decorated. I have been planning on coming back for some time now. I am at the bottom of the hill, right beneath the overhang that the house sits near. I must follow the winding dirt road up and around. Sweat pours down my face from the twenty mile hike I have been on since my car ran out of gas. My sniper rifle sits upon my back, almost weightless. Rounding the last bend in the road I see Sam and Rick standing with Elvis Presley who is holding the handlebar of a motorcycle. They are discussing music. This far out in the woods, I am surprised by Elvis' presence. He usually doesn't come until the winter months. I make it to where they are standing, and join them in their heated debate. All of a sudden Elvis climbs upon his motorcycle and heads toward the overhang at full speed. Going off the overhang would send him hundreds of feet out, and thousands of feet down to his death. We all run after him, but he cuts the throttle sliding to a stop at the edge laughing. All of a sudden a cracking sound resounds off the mountains around us. Bike and all begin to drop as the ground beneath his feet falls away. I dive, catching his wrist at the last second. His weight pulls me forward until only my lower half is still on the edge. I can hear the others yelling for us to hold on. But I slip over the edge as he grabs hold of Rick's hand and is pulled up. Grasping for any hand hold, I make contact with a large tree root. Merely ten feet from the edge now I begin climbing back up the root. I can see them above me, worry cut across their faces. Now only three feet from the edge Rick reaches down offering his hand to me, I stretch my left hand out just as the root pulls free from the mountain side. Our hands meet as I float free in the air. Quickly he pulls me to safety where once I am next to him we begin laughing hysterically. He looks at me and says "Next time, its your turn to save my ass". We head toward the cabin arms slung over shoulders. Once we reach the door I look back toward the cliff edge and smile seeing the bright blue sky all around us. Then I wake up
